Jeffery Farnol books.

Eureka! I bought three more J. Farnol books today. The Waif of the River, Chronicles of the Imp and The Ninth Earl. Haven't read them before either! Funny, every time I see the titles of his books that I have read, I want to read them again! Very good stories.

The Waterfall.

If I lived in a cave behind a waterfall with green grass all around me and pine trees very tall, then
the winds could blow and the rain could fall but I'd be safe 'neath my waterfall.

Inside my little cave I would live as I want to live. There'd be peace and silence and time to think,
with many thoughts to sieve and the frantic world would seem far away from behind my waterfall.

But wait, what thoughts are these? You can't escape what's real. The world is real, yes, very real
and you have no time to dream. No, you have no time to dream.

So, live as you have to live and love the one you love, for there is no cave, save in your dreams
and you have no time to dream.
A blacksmith used to live here long ago, and I can imagine all his kids crammed into this room! Some of them, anyway. That's a candle light on the wall.

Weihrauch HW 85 .22

This air rifle is twenty years old. In that time it has never been serviced, probably never seen a drop of oil!. It belonged to my son in law (a lovely bloke but a farmer and as such has little regard for mechanical things. If it works, why touch it?)After it was exposed to condensation and become rusty, he gave it to me to save as long as he could borrow it if needed.
I've done my best and it's looking better. To be honest, it always shot well and continues to do so, a fact that speaks volumes for German workmanship and design!

I like these two pictures.

They hang in our sitting room. Photographed them under primitive conditions and now have them in my Picasa album.
