Summer trip.

This is where the Bach remedies originated and are still made today. My darling wife is taking a photograph.. This place had a nice feel to it. There was a very good pub in the nearby village.

Piece written for writing group.

FEAR.

Fear is not a pleasant emotion but as a spur to achievement , it has no equal.
The fear of failing an exam, for instance, will often cause examinees to study long and hard when the urge to
laze or indulge in revelry lurks like Satan at their shoulder!
I remember well, as a callow youth, ( I will admit here that I don't know what " callow" means, it just sounds so right) not being an athlete, how, whilst delivering newspapers to a large country house, being chased by two German Shepherd dogs. That morning, clad in my uncles ex home guard overcoat with about twenty inches cut from the bottom and encumbered by the two large pockets being filled with an air pistol and several scrumped
apples, our friend Fear lent his proverbial wings to my clumsy feet, enabling me to escape a dreadful fate.
As a youth, (how I love commas) with most of my brains residing below my snake belt, I had many fist fights , the fear of losing same turning me into a veritable whirlwind of flailing arms which seemed to befuddle my opponents
and persuade them to cede victory.
Despite being frightened to death of girls in those days, I managed to date one or two but ( and this is probably why they never agreed to a second meeting) never got beyond holding hands! Fear of outraged rejection making me wait several years before I discovered the incredible softness of a girls breast !!
Conquering fear is very rewarding. I found that climbing trees that appeared too difficult , trespassing under the threat of MR. Dash the gamekeeper's shotgun, or riding my ex post office cycle "no hands" down steep hills gave me a great feeling of self satisfaction.
There we have it, learning to live with fear. I think of it as a useful tool. A goad to achievement and
something to heed and weigh up when danger threatens.
So, long live fear but let us not be the cause of it.
