Just in case anyone has NOT got a bread machine , take my advice and go for it!
It is SO easy. The white loaf pictured was so light, I had to nail it down to take the photo!
Get a PANASONIC SD 254.

All I can say is, Mick, that depression is a strange old place to be in - and very lonely. Not to be confused with just feeling down or low. Talking about it is good. You don't really want comments or sympathy from anyone - just their time and a genuine empathy to understand where you are. That helps. And it can happen that you're not entirely sure why you are feeling so bad in the first place. I shall never forget a man who said to me - only weeks after my M died - "You just have to shrug it off and get on with things." I didn't want to dignify his comments in any way with an answer, but just walked away!
